New Massage Music on My iPod – Whats on yours?

October 17, 2011 by Ivy Hultquist

I try to change up my massage music playlist every couple months. The other day I got bored and downloaded a few new songs from Amazon and I thought I would share with all of you.

One was named “Probably the Best Music for Relaxation and Meditation” It was 99 cents for thirty minutes of music. Now it is not the best music I have ever played in my office, but its pretty good.

Meagan Holub recommend in her book something called  “Rockabye Lullabies”. It is popular music that has been turned into keyboard music to lull your baby to sleep. Now, its not the best music ever invented and definitely not for everyone.   However, I think it is a genius way for me to listen to Arcade Fire and Weezer at work every now and then!

My colleague, Amy, was nice enough to let me sample one of her favorite CD’s last week: “Chrysalis” by 2002. It was great. Also it had great reviews on Amazon. You can download the album for $7.99.

Whats new on your playlist?  I would love to hear some more suggestions.

I have been using pieces by Matthew C. Shuman during my massage appointments for the past couple months now. They fit massage nearly perfectly and my clients consistently compliment my song selection. His music really allows the mind to escape. I downloaded his CDs from Amazon and iTunes, looks like there are hard copies available through his website. http://www.matthewcshuman.com

    Hope this helps! 🙂

I just went to get a little preview of his music; it sounds great too. I looked at his website and I see his music is played on the Weather Channel’s Local on the 8’s. I used to put on the Weather Channel to relax and nap- Now it all makes sense why it is so relaxing! Thank you for the suggestion and all of the links!

My clients’ tastes tend to lean towards ‘relaxed hip lounge’ type music. Pretty much any Thievery Corporation song provides that. A handful of songs by Enigma, XX, and Ratatat can work as well. Amazon has many free mp3 and mp3 album downloads available – lounge, spa, etc.

    As an example: http://www.amazon.com/Still-Life/dp/B005CL4X7I/ref=pd_sim_dmusic_a_1

And when you scroll down there are examples of other $0 songs. Or just search for “free mp3.” Pretty great.

Thanks for the suggestions! I have one Thievery Corp song from the Garden State album (great by the way), so maybe I will have to look at some more. I like having a variety of music on hand for my variety of clients.
