FORTHiQ Knee Massager Pro+ Review: Helping My Mom Recover
My mom had a stroke a little over a year ago. While she was in the hospital recovering, she was left alone in the bathroom for a moment and fell, hurting her knee. Since then, keeping her knee comfortable has been a small but important part of her recovery. It hasn’t been an easy year. My father also passed away. He was a chiropractor, so she lost someone who was always to put his hands to good use when someone had pain their were dealing with. Again, not a year I want to do again.
When FORTHiQ contacted me about reviewing their Knee Massager Pro+, I quickly said yes.
If you’re new here, my name is Ivy, and I’ve been a licensed massage therapist for almost 25 years. I review massage tools and self-care devices because I want you to have solid, honest information before you buy one for yourself or for someone you love.
First Impressions: “Intuitive” Is the Goal — I Just Didn’t Read the Directions
Right on the box, FORTHiQ states their whole philosophy: products should be intuitive and easy to use so they enhance your life instead of complicating it. I love that as a mission statement.
Did I actually read the directions before using it? No. I had it strapped on upside down for the first couple of sessions until my mom — the one recovering from a stroke — corrected me. Once I flipped it around the right way, it really was far easier to operate. Don’t be like me: read the directions first, and it’ll click immediately.

The Massage: Good Vibration, No Kneading
The vibration setting on the Pro+ is genuinely good — steady, adjustable across a few intensity levels, and easy to control right from the touch panel. If you’re looking for something that gently works the area around the knee, it delivers.
What it doesn’t have is kneading. If you’re someone (or shopping for someone) who loves that deeper, rolling kneading sensation you get from other massagers, this device doesn’t offer that — it’s vibration and heat, not kneading action. That’s the one feature I’d love to see added in a future version. In the mean time, I have instructed her to use her massage gun for deeper work. Here is a couple of options for massage guns that I recommend.
Where It Really Shines: Red Light Therapy
This is the part that’s made the biggest difference for my mom. She reports that the red light therapy setting has genuinely helped her knee feel better, and it’s become a regular part of how she manages discomfort and continues her recovery. Watching her use it consistently and see real benefit from it is honestly what won me over on this product.

Final Verdict
So while I’d love to see kneading added, and it’s not there right now, the fact that this device is actively helping my mom feel better and keep moving forward in her recovery makes me happy to recommend it. It’s simple to use once you have it oriented correctly, the heat and vibration are comfortable, and the red light therapy delivers real, noticeable relief.
DEFINITELY CONSIDER the FORTHiQ Knee Massager Pro+ if:
- You or someone you’re buying for wants heat, vibration, and red light therapy in one device
- You’re looking for a gentle, at-home recovery tool rather than a deep-tissue kneading massager
- Ease of use matters — just make sure you (unlike me) read the directions first
You should look elsewhere if:
- Kneading massage is a must-have for you
- You need a device with more aggressive, deep-tissue-style action
